I have closed my wordpress blog on Wilmot River Walks. So many of my favourite places have been overrun by mtb trails that I no longer want to publicise the area! I will still look after it for those who enjoy the walks.
There are getting to be few quiet places left, even Lofoten is overrun by camper vans. We oldies had the best of it.

I stopped maintaining the East Ellis circuit on 6/1/20after 17 years.
I may still look after Spellmans to Horseshoe Bend walks.

As so many walks are closed to us because of the coronavirus pandemic I have started to maintain Lucy's Track on the east bank of the Wilmot River again. It is currently in good order. The river has been too high to cross recently with the dam spilling.
Lucy's track is all in State Forest and not subject to Parks edicts but obviously you should obey the social distancing guidelines and the Rule of Two!

I have posted a short blogpost to cover walks available in the lockdown it should soon come up under Wilmot River Walks

I purchased a domain and it does come up on Google. I hope this helps promote the tracks in this lovely river valley!

Works for me Bill, nice site and photos. Great work on keeping those tracks open, I love the recycled car tyre river crossing.
Very disappointing and frustrating that you have to keep battling vandalism, what's wrong with some people?
Not much consolation, but sadly it's a universal problem that I see more and more of in ever more remote locations.
Be nice to do some of those walks when we're able to come down and visit again (who knows when that might be ).

I am getting some help on 5 October from the Monday Ladies to clear foxgloves and thistles at East Ellis as a follow up to their splendid effort last Spring.

I wish to acknowledge the sad passing of Bill Shepherd(billshep2) on 20th Nov 2020.
Bill died doing what he loved, bushwalking and track maintenance on the tracks and trails all over northern Tasmania.
Bill spent an enormous amount of time upgrading and maintaining the extensive network of trails along the Wilmot River and updating his blog for all to use......https://wilmotwalkingtracks.com/
His last entry was on the 13th Nov 2020.
Billls legacy will live on for ever for all of us who have had the pleasure to follow in his footsteps. His legacy..
"we are such stuff as dreams are made on".

Sad news indeed... condolences to those close to Bill.

I had the pleasure of doing hiking the Southern Range and coming out on the South Coast Track with Bill. He was a very easy hiking companion, both relaxed and passionate at the same time. Great company. He just loved being out there, whether here or overseas.

A sad loss.
