Mt Bogong Circuit in late winter

Two weeks ago I spent 5 days walking a circuit that included Mt Bogong, Quartz Ridge, the Grey Hills, Spion Kopje, Mt Nelse, Duane Spur, T Spur, then out via Eskdale Spur.

It was a ton of fun and included nearly losing my tent on Mt Bogong, encountering faeries in the Grey Hills and enjoying some great weather in a beautiful area.

Hi Andrew

The blog makes for a great read, you certainly had an eventful trip. Did Bogong earlier this year to Cleave Cole and have previously done Nelse, and Duane Spur to Big River but in the warmer months not keen on the minus temps.

Sounds like an amazing trip you've had. Taking the home-brew tent for a night on the Bogong summit is a very brave move, glad you survived it! The views from Mt Arthur are great in summer and even better in winter i imagine. Something i will one day have to try. Thanks for sharing

Bogong summit isn't the most hospitable place to be at that time of year, let alone in a home-made tent without a sewn-in floor. The wind up there can be brutal, and seemingly come from nowhere sometimes.

But it's good to see there are still people crazy enough to push the envelope from time to time. Allows the sane ones to learn from their experiences, from the safety of their living room.

Sounds like a great, memorable trip. Cleve Cole hut for two weeks huh? It's a nice hut, but that's a long time in the one spot.

I dunno - it seemed kind of chlled out - though personnally I prefer a bit more travelling .

Nice. Mostly good weather, too. But less snow than my trip last year.
