I am going hard while I am allowed out. I will surf twice this week too. I think " Is it worth it? Can I be bothered?". The answer is YES. We will be locked down again and there will be a third wave in 2021.

I hope you're wrong, but fear you're right.
With work and family, my opportunities for getting out and about are limited.
It would suck to be locked down again for months and miss more potential bushwalks.
Anyway, well done, and I'm more than a bit envious.

Nice write up, love all the pictures! Do you have a gpx or a map for the route you took?

The SV map is out of date even though the new edition of the Bogong Alpine area map is not that old. The Wollybutt spur track and the West Link Track have been locked
up and abandoned by Forest management since 2013. The tracks are listed by SV as coming off the West Kiewa Logging road. They are not there anymore.
The Rooftops 's 2nd edition of Bright to Dartmouth is the best map of the area.
You can retrace my steps from the Big Hill Road Locked gate up to Spring Saddle, Bogong Jack Saddle and Salt camp creek near Mt. Fainter South.

Thanks, I have the rooftop map and found the route. I like the note in between the Fainters where there's "Good views"!

The route via The West Kiewa Logging road and Spring Saddle track involves less arduous and futile schlepping up and down hills to reach the Fainters Fire trail.
If I do a winter/ early spring XC ski trip up there with a snow camp base at Bogong Jack Saddle then I would use that route. Even with a heavy 4 seasons tent, snow shovel, BC XC skis and ski boots all strapped to the pack it would be less of a slog.
