Early last week I decided to celebrate continued bushwalking access via Greens Road, Warrimoo (Lower Blue Mountains).
This was made possible, at least in part, by members of these forums petitioning for it via public submissions, including me .
Discussion about this eventual small win can be found here: https://bushwalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=32151&hilit=greens
Rather than do a simple out and back walk I decided to attempt an extended version between Warrimoo and Blaxland railway stations.
My goal was to find a linking route between the Greens Road area and the Florabella Pass.
It ended up being fairly straightforward and I had really nice weather to enjoy it.
After a relaxing train trip, arriving at Warrimoo I quickly got the urban street walking to Greens Road out of the way.
The first locked gate is still there protecting the contentious section of (former) crown road.
Soon after you get some early views over the valley of Glenbrook Creek.
Almost immediately after that I arrived at the National Park locked gate.
I'm pleased to note that the lock is still intact and I couldn't see any attempt at vandalism.
A bit of down and up under the power lines, these will figure in my navigation for the latter part of the walk.
An interesting artifact just off the trail.
I came to a decision point. The trail on the right is what we want. But I'll be taking the other one on the return trip.
Easy walking to the end of the Greens Road trail, arriving at a rock platform with reasonable views.
To get the best views you need to briefly scramble down from there to the informal pad up to Green Point Lookout proper.
Now the views are at their most expansive. There is an option to go a little further, but I left that for another visit.
Due to too many photos, Part 2 of this trip is here:
