12 PRO TIPS FOR STAYING WARM OUTDOORS IN WINTER
Staying warm and comfortable while Nordic or backcountry skiing, snowshoeing, or hiking in winter is a constant challenge—we sweat, our bodies and clothes get damp, then we get cold. But it’s not impossible. In fact, as someone who runs hot when moving and cools off quickly—and who gets cold fingers very easily—I’ve learned some tricks over the years that have made getting outdoors in winter vastly more comfortable and enjoyable for me. Follow these tips and you could be more comfortable on cold-weather outdoor adventures, too.

Sorry Wayno - Why do you continually cut and paste other peoples words - without crediting the source. Its called plagarism. I fail people for that.

Wayno, I don't think you are trying to take credit for the words you posted but it looks like it at first.
I've gotten used to your style over time but it is potentially confusing.

If it were me I'd put the quote in quotation marks or italics to indicate the words aren't mine.
Or like this:

Sorry - had a bad day yesterday - I had to fail two students for plagarism who will not be allowed to continue their studies.

Hey Wayno,

I used to be an academic, too, and for me when I see that style of writing it just triggers too many painful memories of undergraduates who thought they were being smart, and didn't realise their folly. It also reflects the problem on the internet at the moment where, if you search for a product review, you get links to retail sites where the "review" is a cut and paste from the manufacturer's own web site blurb - of no help to me at all, and kind of annoying.

It comes back to, in the interests of better communication, indicating to your reader whether these are your own words/ideas, or others'. Any method where it's obviously a quote is fine by me.

Thanks for the link, taking the kids skiing in Japan, so most useful.

Skibug.

Personally I did not see anything wrong with how Wayno was posting his topics, I am finding them great reading and appreciate the time his taking to find these topics of interest.

I often wonder how they go by in schools today, with the easy access to all the info online. It was not like that when i went to school, I thinks kids have it a lot easier today.

without the internet i'd still probably be using the same old heavy gear I used to use from the likes of kathmandu and macpac and none the wiser about alternatives out there... most of my major purchases and a lot of my minor once are now imported from overseas through online shops after researching them online..

Same here, the World Wide Web has really made a difference to our lives, it's the best. Living in a small town that knows crap about anything, apart from Rum, in particular the local camp store, I wouldn't dare going on a Overnighter with what they sell here locally.

It's great for learning, and if it was not for the WWW. we would not be here on this forum chatting to each other. I couldn't imagine the thought of that.

The shelves of encyclopedias in the libraries have now been replaced by rows of Internet terminals. Yes, things have changed big time in the way how kids and adults learn. Internet per se has been a carrier of rumours and false information on various matters, instead, the advent Usenet FAQ and Wikipedia has been the real disseminator of knowledge.
Just move it!

I prefer printed books also although I have been known to obtain digital versions of books I own for portability sake

I still prefer to buy CD's, though I may download an occasional single song. I have all my CD's in digital version on my computer though as well. Ditto for books, I still prefer the look and feel of a book (preferably hardcover with a slip) and often I'll get the 'real thing' of a Kindle version I liked. The Folio Society uses nice paper for their books.
We can learn a lot from crayons. They come in different shapes and colours, but they all have to live in the same box

I thought it might be helpful to actually comment on the article being linked to :D

It's a pretty handy list of hints. I scored myself 8/12 for the ones I actually have followed. In future winter walks, I will be sure to add:
- pre-warming gloves before use
- drinking more (water, that is ;) )
- taking a second set of gloves to rotate in daily usage
- taking a second, lighter hat
