Things kids say...

Postby Kainas » Mon 29 Sep, 2014 7:50 pm

My 4yo (almost 5yo) just hopped out of bed and asked me this...

"Mum, can we get the big backpacks, and I can have a backpack, and we can carry all our camping gear... Not the heavy stuff like the camping fridge... and then can we walk into the forest and camp there?"

*sigh*

A girl after my own heart. We haven't mentioned overnight camping with her as we are still waiting to be able to afford a 4-person tent. I can't wait.

nice one. One of my favourites, from our (then) 7 y.o. earlier this year was after she'd been walking for about 6 hours with a pack pack on the first day of a 3 day walk. She said something like:

What a legend!

Her and her 5 y.o. sister walked for 7.5 hours on that first day both with decent back packs on. I was very impressed. I had expected to have to stop and camp much earlier than that.

Found your quote at http://bushwalk.com/forum/posting.php?mode=quote&f=5&p=200421, though that might have been a different walk.

I was so impressed I've quoted her on a number of occasions since then. And her sister's achievement. :)

Nice. You'll have to provide details on how to turn kids out like that.

I'm finally taking mine this weekend for the first camp trip. 25c is the forecast so a long way from the snow camping I was planning. Still can't wait.

I just hope he has your daughter's attitude by the age of - almost 5. :)

haha! My 4yos catchphrase for when its been too far for her is her legs feel 'busy'. For her age though im impressed, we can usually do a 5km circuit before complaints

Other funny bushwalking/camping related words she uses is 'camping bag' (for sleeping bag) and 'daddys house' (my tent). She hasnt used that one in a while though

I did reply earlier, but my comment never made it.
So gorgeous, I can't wait until my kids really get to love walking the way we do.
