A little more detail from the ABC. Apparently he has a pack, but police don't know what he is carrying, ie how much water?

"The 18-year-old was last seen on Upshot Station, 130 kilometres south-west of Longreach, on Tuesday afternoon."

Glad he has been found,
He would have made more money if he said he survived on a Mars Bar :)

nothing about lessons to be learnt..

when in unfamiliar and or featureless surroundings, take navigation aids to avoid getting lost...

Surely he was on a road since he was out running so was he LOST lost as in bushwached or just sort of turned around a bit and thirsty?
