Bushwalking topics that are not location specific.

Plenty of simple quick-fixes — some more elaborate, pricey and questionable; embedded ticks are something a lot more serious and should be attended to quickly and professionally.
If I see one getting started, I reach for a tiny bottle of isopropyl alcohol (when walking; there is a tiny atomiser 'pen dispenser' in my photo pack that is used for lens cleaning and does the same thing, also for leeches) with cotton buds and dab a tick with that. He isn't going to like it — none at all, and will be back-pedalling in a jif (unless he cannot get out he'll go further in, which is where an effective Plan B is needed!!).
Other quick fixes are salicylic acid (used for killing warts) and EMLA, an over-the-counter local anaesthetic cream.
