Interesting Signs in the wilderness.

I have seen lots of interpretative signage in our National Parks that are intended to "inform" the experience of visitors, but it looks like this one rather overshadows the subject

What other examples have you seen?

Here is one from December 1971 that caught my attention sufficiently to be worth expending my rationed slide film on it. This was the sign outside the Rangers House that was next to the Day Hut at Waldheim until it burnt down a few years later and was not replaced. I got a from the blanked out letter "N" originally at the start of the word "ENQUIRIES" as well as the reversed "S"

I think Ollster has one from the Blue Tier. "security cameras in use" in the middle of nowhere.

The best I have seen so far is on Cranes Rd, Dromedary. It simply says: 'Warning, these premises are under constant covert surveillance. Trespassers will be shot.' There were several warning signs previous to this, but this one took the cake! I must go back and get a photo of it.

I laughed about the signs up there as well Jared(you didn't mention the signs about uncontrolable attack dogs), but then I stumbled across the meditation camp, promising tranquility amongst sporadic gunfire!

Haha yes I did see them. Just the thought of 'Constant covert surveillance' made me chuckle. Do they sit there with their shot guns in front of a monitor all day?

An oldie but a goodie ... this was once on the fence behind what's now the Hungry Wombat Cafe at Derwent Bridge. The present owners didn't leave it up, for some reason

Nope, not a loophole, it was a poophole and it belonged to a dog.

ha ha... they weren't the sharpest Tools.. I picture a bunch of people standing around holding dogs in arms (with an eye on where their feet were placed and wondering what happens next)

This is not exactly 'in the bush', just a very small rural town. When I got to the Weddin Mtns camp, all the fireplaces had 'TOTAL FIRE BAN' signs on them, although the weather was as in the photo and the road was almost washed out.

On the Great North Walk just before crossing Mooney Mooney Creek on the old Pacific Hwy (when heading south), you pass this sign

I am worried about the poor walkers who are north bound, and do not get the benefit of this obviously very important information before they cross the bridge.

The video surveillance signs are everywhere! we had a ute pull off after us but he looked amish; probably just sits on the hill all day! The meditation camp probably belongs to the people past the private property signs that use the road as a carpark. Along with a covert surveillance one we saw a sign warning about trigger happy locals! Don't know if it was meant as a joke but it seemed possibly relevant.

Time to revive this topic.

I thought it reasonably likely that, if I took the trouble to obtain a permit (and presumably a key) to enter this ah... whatever-it-is, I would figure out for myself that I should expect a confined space. Perhaps 'they' think most people will assume it's a Tardis of some kind.

I wouldn't really call this "wilderness" as such, having stationed army personnel there, but there are numerous signs like this one as you approach the tri-border on a short day walk in Norway...

Great one, geevsey. I wonder how many people offensively circumnavigated the offending cairn prior to the appearance of the sign.
(Mine wasn't exactly wilderness either, but rather than starting a new topic i thought i'd add to this one.)
