General conditions in protected areas

Postby CFPhillips » Mon 16 Mar, 2015 1:13 pm

Hi all,

Hoping to piece together a new, "vox pops" article that asks the question: "Are conditions in Australia's parks and reserves getting better or worse?"

I realise this is quite subjective and feel free to tell me outright if I'm being ridiculous, but it would be great to hear from anyone that has been bushwalking in a variety of locations and can give anecdotal feedback regarding changes in maintenance quality, litter, signage and facilities over the past ten or more years.

Put simply, do you feel the state of our protected areas is getting better, worse or is it variable from place to place? Any stories you can provide to add depth will be appreciated. If there are stunningly positive or negative examples, these would be great to highlight. I've included a basic poll for people to respond to as well, which might help get a more general picture of what's going on.

Feel free to contact me directly if you'd rather not share your views in a public forum.

Regards,

Campbell
