Bushwalking Guide books per location

Is anyone aware of any resource that lists what guidebooks are available for specific areas?

The only thing that comes to mind right now that sorts them by area are commercial sites like The Map Centre. For example:

Of course that's only at a state level and probably won't list every guide book available. In my experience a well targeted google search will often get to any specific area you need.

Being a person who tries not spend money on 'unknowns', I like to see the product first...

The best way is to borrow the book from a library. Allows detailed reading, possibly not of the latest version.
The best way to find guide book on an area for libraries in Australia is to search for it using 'trove' (as in treasure trove).

As usual for any search it does turn up some unexpected results ...

Which has often diverted me onto an interesting side trip that had absolutely nothing to do with the original quest...

Case in point, I did my own Trove search on "bushwalks" resulting in 775 hits including a number of guidebooks etc across many regions of Australia. Unfortunately you'd have to sort through and group any of interest yourself. Some of them are available to view and download free online. In browsing the results I stumbled across the fascinating (and downloadable) Official Blue Mountain tourist guide and street directory from Penrith to Mount Victoria, containing 28 bushwalks; 1940-1949 Illustrated edition.

There isn't much stuff out there... For Tasmania it's ok, but for other states there's very little... It's been years since John and Lyn Daly have written anything on bushwalking, now they mostly do guided tours overseas. Even basic stuff like the Hema Atlas & Guide series, which was amazing, seems to disappear, they've discontinued the ones on Tasmania or the Pilbara.

Hallu, Do you mean you are unable to buy them anymore or that no one has written anything new?

For John and Lyn Daly "Take a walk" books you can still buy them on their website, but for some of them it's only e-books of old editions (like for Victoria, where info can be quite dated, due to bushfires and stuff). For the Hema Atlas & Guide series, you can't find the ones on Tassie and the Pilbara new anymore, maybe used if you're lucky.

This Guide book appears to have been published only last year in 2022. Chunky so a lot of options and well presented. Seen at Cartographics on Unley Rd, Adelaide today. With Tassie it really is the weather and good gear so hopefully it's stressed.
