NSW new camping fee proposal

Postby wildwanderer » Sat 19 Apr, 2025 9:35 am

Posted in general as this also affects visitors from other states.

Proposal is general increase in fees which will apply in tiers to most NPWS camp grounds and a mechanism to combat the ghost booking problem. (Where people book sites then either dont turn up or book sites on either side of their site so they have more room)

Don't have to much issue with fee increases if they can justify with facilities and welcome a reduction in ghost booking

However it's not clear how this impacts multi day bushwalkers who are just parking their car at a camp ground. (Maybe using the toilet) Would they still be subject to a per day fee? Hopefully not.

Will their be any restrictions on off track campsite use? Hopefully not.

HOW are they going to catch me????

I seem to remember various other politically-inspired fees and regulations over the years. HA!

Cheers

We have a similar problem here in the West. I have booked into a bushwalking only campsite (grabbed the last tent site apparently) only to turn up and not a soul to be seen. I really do not understand as you have to pay in advance and possibly pay for the park access as well.

Oh the campsite 'shelter' would need upgrading if they wanted to up the fees but.
