there can be tradeoffs with lighter footwear remember, it won't work for everyone, especially if you're carrying a heavy pack on particularly rugged ground, it varies from person to person.
also the lightest footwear tends to have a thin tread, not good for gripping in soft earth, sand or mud. and the tread doesnt tend to last as long, if you've got a lot of tread your boot weight is going to drop as it wears down...
some running shoes will get a better tread depth and keep the weight down by having smaller pieces of rubber jutting out on the sole, but that arrangement isnt good if you 're on hard ground or rock a lot. they are more prone to wearing or having chunks taken out of them...
