I've done the extremely wet thing
My Australian kit has been sorted for a decade or three
I know my kit is plenty good enough for -25 to -30C; it's that next 20 degrees I do not know about. What I have will cope but it's all about getting enough protection with minimum weight.
I can do it with a coonskin coat if I want to wear something that weighs close to 25 kilos.
I do need Antarctic rated clothing for Algonquin in winter
-40 during the day and -55 at night if a cold spell hits, that's almost Antarctic temperatures and no nice warm huts to retreat to either
I'd better start on the cold showers too very soon
Ve are too soon old und too late schmart
