The 50th anniversary of the AUMC inaugural 24 hour walk in 1963 is being celebrated at SARA’s 24 hour rogaine championships being held at Argadells which is located 25km north of Quorn and 370 km from Adelaide. The event is on the last weekend of April and the public holiday on the Thursday gives the opportunity to include it as part of a four day stay in the Flinders. The event also includes a ‘Roving 12 hour’ rogaine where you can do the event in two time blocks.
If you’re interested in Googling the map area, it extends approx. 6 km W and E of Argadells and 9 km N and S. The map area has hilly country including Mt Arden on the west side of the course and the small but fabulous Wyacca Range in the north. The SE quarter corner has the impressive zig-zag of the Ragless Range. You’ll be pleased to learn that there’s a good area of gently undulating in between! The country is predominantly grassy (ie spinifex so wearing gators is recommended) as well as some gum forest, some impressive creek beds, rock outcrops and gorges.

The rogaine is fully catered and SARA’s catering has the reputation of being the amongst the best in the country with a great choice and quality of hot meals and all the extras plus a BBQ lunch on Sunday. If you’ve not been on a rogaine before, you’ll find it a lot of fun. If your map reading skills bother you, two short training sessions on compass use and map orientation are held on the morning of the event.

If you’re coming from interstate, we will arrange free airport pick up and home accommodation in Adelaide and transport to the event (you’ll share the cost of car travel). If interested, go to http://sa.rogaine.asn.au/. A late fee applies after Friday 12 April so you need to book soon.
