Have just come off the trail today, Pammie7.
You won't be short of a drink. Heavy rain a month ago, and persistent cooler temperatures have resulted in a much higher quantity of surface water than normal. The vegetation is quite lush too, flowers will be awesome for your trip. I will publish a brief report and gallery soon. Just in motel in Alice now, heading home on Thursday. Will get something up online soon, have been building a website in motel room.
Pack light- we never used our tent once. Nothing annoyed us. Our tent was a ZPacks tarp tent, only took it just in case⦠I was amazed how many people overpack on this walk. 18-20kg was normal for most, using 4 season multi pole alpine tents.
The BEST camping- was often in between water sources. Most made their overnight camps at water tanks- many of ours were on high ridges and isolated bush camps- a far better experience. The pictures will tell all, I should have them up in about a week from today.
Cheers
