Just wondering, on the bom site they are only say 10mm of rain, snow showers. So if you are at lower altitude you get 10mm of rain. If you are up at snow level, is there a correlation between 10mm precipitation at lower points and a certain depth of snow at high altitude. If so, what is the factor that is used. Our does this vary to much with the type of snow that falls.

This answers it I think... 10:1 on average or up to 30:1 with dry snow or 5:1 with wet snow.

Very interesting question. Try searching for information on "snow rain ratio".
