DIY summer quilt

Sun 17 Aug, 2014 5:12 pm

Hey all. I finished my quilt today (finally) after chucking in the towel last month due to (user) issues.with my sewing machine.
It has a single layer of synthetic wadding as insulation, ripstop nylon as the material. Its about 110cm wide and 2m long. Dont have weight sorry (need some scales!!).
I had some issues sewing the wadding onto the inner seams so instead I just cornered it and added diamond stitches down the lenght to hold it (as can be seen in the underside shot). I also added a few heavy stitches in a few places to keep the wadding in place, by only sacrificing the odd spot of loft.
I am not sure how it will perform but I intend to use it as a summer quilt, which I am sure it will be sufficient for, might sleep in the backyard next weekend to test it in cooler weather though.
All up my difficulties were just machine related and the process itself was fairly easy. Now to make a stuff sack for it :)

Thanks! I used a single.sheet of 'wadding' which you can buy in rolls from places like spotlight (about. $25 for a big roll). Its.pretty warm and being a sheet is relativly easy to use for a nooby. I got the idea.from.an early terrarosa youtube video who used.a similar technique
