Wash away quilters tape for baffles - Thoughts

I'm making a summer quilt -
Has anyone tried wash away double sided quilters tape to hold the baffles while sewing? It seems a very simple and effective technique - IN THEORY!!.

My intention is to sew beside the tape so it doesn't gum up the needle. I'll probably remove the tape anyway, but it would be good to know it will wash away if I wash the shell in a delicates bag before filling it.
