MYOG windscreen??

I normally use a cat can meths stove, and a household aluminium foil windscreen which works well and is seriously light.

But on a recent 12 day trip, I went with an upright cannister stove in the interests of fuel efficiency. Unfortunately the aluminium foil was too flimsy for the extra height.

A MYOG windscreen should be an easy project, but to save me the error part of 'trial and error', what have people used for materials for windscreens, where did you source it, and how do you store it safely in your pack without getting crumpled/torn.

Mad

PS. Bonus points if you can supply instructions for the craft-challenged.

Aluminum builders flashing, comes in 3 widths and is what MSR use for their windscreens, light strong flexible re-usable long lived ( My first has lasted 30 years) and if you can share cost with others dirt cheap. You have to buy a roll tho and that is as serious drawback if you cannot find others to share with.
otherwise 3 tent pegs and some cheap nylon fabric

I have used a large disposable foil baking dish. Works well. I then carry it rolled in a piece of solid plastic. Just roll it flat, cut to size, I double the edges over to give extra strength.

I bit the bullet and bought some aluminium flashing a couple of months back $25 for about 10m from bunnings. Still carry it the same way.
Now I have plenty of flashing I have been playing with a meths stove set up using a trangia burner and a design from Zen stoves

The flashing is 230mm wide. I am happy to sell some. Postage will be the big cost, as it will need to be rolled to be transported, folding puts creases in it.
$2.50 per metre plus postage.
If you are in Hobart, Launceston or St Helens/St Marys I can probably deliver if you are prepared to wait until I am in those areas which is usually a couple of times a month.
PM me if you are still interested.

Roger
