Tarp for packraft

Hi all,
Am thinking of making a tarp to go over a packraft or 2. Have heard the rafts are comfy to sleep on and also trying to lighten the load when I add a raft and associated gear. Anyone done his and have any suggestions/ tips. I will grab some silnylon form Simon at Tier Gear and use some webbing and maybe plastic D rings???

Or if I am lazy I just found 2 old army hootchies which may need resealing....

Lizzie, an upturned packraft is the best sleeping mat you could possibly have, IMHO. We have had some extremely comfortable ( and warmer than hammock) nights on them in NZ. I now have a Zpacks cuben tarp for our next trip. Factor in some sort of bug proofing if required.

Thanks Andrew- good to know they are comfortable. Have tried it in the lounge room but only for a few minutes. What size tarp did you get?

Not entirely sure - looks to be about 11-12' x 8' ish from my recollection of setting it up on Bogong last weekend.

I have slept on mine for 5 days (nights) with just a mozzie net strung from a tree and tucked under the raft, good weather so I did not pitch the tarp, great sleeping system, very comfy. A micro towel to dry off your raft is good if you paddle a bit late in the day and your alpacka is still damp.
