Tent rebuild idea

The fly has seen better days and reproofing wont be possible
The rest of the tent tho is in very good condition and I was thinking about using the existing fly as a pattern for making a new one and my brain went "CLICK"
These tents make very good use of space but the centre pole was and is LW and mates often added a double pin and used 2 centre poles when snow camping to counter that [ extra pole clips being so easy to add on]
What about deconstructing the whole tent by cutting it in half and adding in 600mm or so and turning it into a 4 pole tunnel?
Too many existing projects but I think this idea has possibilities
