I am finally getting around to sewing up the length of fabric into a small tarp.
How important is it with sil to get the fabric weaves aligned properly>?

This is a simple tarp the length being three times the width of the roll so ~ 3.00 metres long after trimming square and taking off enough for reinforcing patches
I allowed 150mm for the extra patches but I have some other scraps here too if I need to make them bigger
Also can I iron this stuff to set the seams or does a steam iron and wet ironing on synthetic setting get too hot

Fairly important to get the tension along the weave, NOT on the diagonal. It's a very light fabric after all. Careful attention to reinforcing the guyouts is also important.

I don't think you will harm the fabric by ironing it, but I don't think you will do much good either. Steam? Ferggedit. Thin dressmaker pins.

I've had this fabric sitting here for over 3 years; I thought it was time I used it; I dislike these slippery UL materials after working with canvas and Goretex most of the time

I'm pretty sure I have made a mistake here, bits of fabric cut into triangles 150 * 150mm along the edges look very, very small when folded into the seams
How big do folk recommend for a flat tarp 3000 long * fabric width?
I haven't started sewing yet

Ours are 210 x 210.

I'll cut some more and make them bigger for the corners, the 150*150 will probably do along the edges then
