Wanted - Down sleeping bags

Postby SteveJ » Tue 16 Nov, 2010 10:30 am

Hi folks,

I am after 2 secondhand down sleeping bags; one for summer and one for winter. I would like good quality in clean condition but am open to brands styles etc. So if your thinking of an upgrade (or going to take up rock fishing) here is your chance to sell your current bag, what's out there?? Would like registered post and will pay via Paypal.

shoot me a PM or email;
steve@southeastconservation.com.au

Thanks
Steve

How much do you want to spend and how cold do you sleep. I need a little pocket money and I have a spare J&H Flouro ultralite

new cost was $980- and it has little real use, I never did get to Everest with it.

I am not familier with that bag, any details? In winter I would seldom go lower than -1 or -2oC but I really like being warm in winter. It may be out of my modest price range I think.

It was made as an ultralight summit assault bag for mountaineering in high places, cut so you can wear your down suit inside, with the down suit and bivvy bag good to around minus 30C or so
650 grams of 900 loft Polish white goose down and a total weight of about 1300 grams, like all ultralite bags the shell is a little fragile so it was always used with a cover- usually a Goretex bivvy

Thought it may be, but it is my only spare bag ATM, although I have a cheap MD traveller you could have for $100-, but it is not what i would call a liteweight bag, I think it weighs a kilo, most of which is in the full zipper, good for Hostelling and summer camping tho

The "Bimberi" was a very good bag, is it a long or standard length? What colour??

SteveJ
I have a Western Mountaineering Highlite advertised here for $250 delivered .
It is a 6' version, lightly used but as new( recently washed) . Inc the stuff sack and cotton storage bag.
You can see pics of it in a thread below.
$250 delivered , which is not cheap but less than half of the local price.
from memory it is around 500g (I would need to compress it to give you the exact weight)
