Never used Vortex 2x doubler, bought 3 months ago. These units are for doubling magnification on one side of Vortex binoculars to allow longer range spotting as required. An 8x binocular becomes 16x power with the doubler over the eyecup, The most lightweight way to get higher power over regular binoculars for birds, hunting, astronomy etc. Will also work on some Vortex monocular models.
