Once an item is sold, found or thread is no longer needed we move it here. These maybe helpful for historic reasons.

Hi all,
I stumbled upon a camera when crossing Kia Ora Creek on my way between the hut and Reg Wadley's.
Unfortunately but understandably, the camera itself is very much broken but the memory card is working so I'd love to get that back to it's owner. The only issue is that all the photos are in a format that my computer can't read (ARW) but there's lots of video that I can see.
The videos are all dated 30/09/2018.
The video feature a girl (late teens maybe?) wearing red gaiters and a man's voice.
If you have any idea who might be missing this SD card then let me know!
Cheers,
Dee

Hope the photos find their home.
If you need to see the images for any reason, or think it may help lead back to the owner. ARW is Sony's RAW image format. If you don't have Lightroom / Photoshop etc there's a reputable free raw file viewer for Windows here...
http://www.faststone.org/FSViewerDetail.htmNewer versions of Mac OSX can display the files as thumbnails in Finder, and also open them in Preview.

Holy freaking cow.
https://m.facebook.com/groups/473935512 ... 2391113964I saw this ages ago, just before I hiked the Overland myself. I did forget to take a look myself. What a piece of luck.
I'll post the link to this post on the fellow's post as well.

Hi Dee!
I think you've found my Sony!!!
My daughter & I were walking from Reg Wadley to Kia Ora - and I lots it right near the Kia Ora Creek Crossing - (Reg Wadley side)
She's the one in the red gaiters!
I posted a hail mary post in half a dozen hiking groups on facebook - forgot about here tho!!!
I am trying to think what else would be on the chip - a green Vango tent...
Cheers,
Richard

Yeah, I'm excited to see the photos
I started using my phone on day 3 (once I realised I'd lost the camera) - I've seen those photos...
So there's the first 2 days worth of photos and videos to watch
Can't wait!

The internet can be a joy.

I'll say!
I posted about the lost camera the day I got back off the hike, plus several people hiked through the area in the following weeks/month or so...
After they hadn't seen it, I assumed it'd been washed down the creek somewhere...
I am still amazed it was found 5 months later AND the chip is OK

Memory cards / sticks can take a fair bit. I’ve had them go through the wash before without them dying.

Well I better upload a few of the photos from the recovered chip!
Many many many thanks for Dee for finding it...
and roughly here is where the chip/camera would've fell off...
