Hi Everyone
I've decided to pick up a WM Summerlite making my Montbell Sleeping Bag redundant. Bought it last year and used for five nights. Great for those looking for a light weight low volume bag. Here are some specs:
Montbell UL Super Spiral Down Hugger #5 (Regular)
Temperature Rating: 40°F / 4°C
High quality 800 fill power goose down
12 denier Ballistic Airlight Nylon
100 wash rated Polkatex® durable water repellant
Max User Height: 6 ft
Color: BLRI(Blue Ridge)
Weight: 454g
Fill Weight: 170g
Size: R/ZIP
Retails in the US for around $230 sell for $190 inc postage to anywhere in Australia.
Cheers

I'm interested in why you are moving away from the Montbell to the WM? I've just recently looked at getting a bag with similar qualities and for mine, the Montbell came out on top in pretty much every way.

Essentially I'm looking for a warmer bag. The Summerlite has 275g of fill vs the Montbell. Out in the field I've found the Montbell to be comfortable at 8 - 10 degrees and figure the small weight penalty is worth the warmth and therefore greater versatility.

Fair enough. I ended up going with the Montbell #3 which i think is more comparable to the WM summerlite as far as temp ratings go. The biggest reason i went with the Montbell was the stretch design versus the snug fitting of the WM. I hate feeling trapped in a sleeping bag.
Good luck with the sale - its a great bag so should sell no problems.

Cheers iGBH. The #3 would be the comparable bag. I hear the Summerlite has quite a slim cut but there's not a lot of me so should be OK...

Hi
Have you sold the Downhugger #5 yet? If not, I am heading up to hinchinbrook island for the Thorsburn Trail soon, and may be interested in buying it. I am looking for something that can handle warm nights averaging about 14 degrees C (perhaos just using it as a quilt) but want to be able to use it on cooler trips as well (in situations where my -4 bag is overkill)?

Hi Perry
Yep its still sitting forlornly in my gear cupboard...
To answer your questions, as a quilt on summer nights - sure will work but be aware the zip doesn't come fully around the bag just to the base. For colder temps, well hard to tell as we've entered the land of sleeping bag temps with a tonne of variables... I've been comfortablish in the bag to about 8-10 degrees in a single skin shelter with a Big Agnes insulated air core mat and thermals.
Anyway feel free to post or PM with any questions.
Cheers
Dale.
