I've got a brand new pair of Petzl Irvis Flexlock Crampons that I bought in New Zealand on a whim and now realise I don't need them.
They are designed for glacier and snow travel, so are a pretty good option for people wanting to do some winter walking in the higher places around Oz.
They have ten points, and weigh 810g. The will fit most styles of boots as they don't use a welt system, but are only for boots up to size 42EU.
They are new, still in the box. I paid $180NZ so would be hoping to get about $90 for them, US retail is $135.Happy to post anywhere at your expense or can be picked up in Hobart
The info off the Petzl website-

That is a seriously good price, I wish I had a need for them, but I live and walk in tassie.

If you're going to hit Feathertop with me this or next winter . . .

Really?? I'd actually get use out of them? Could I just hire a pair while over there? Or would these be cheaper??

You'd need snowshoes or crampons. Snowshoes would probably get more allround use, but I've seen people head out over hard frozen snow with just crampons.
I was just stirring, though. I still haven't used the pair I bought last year.

I would love these but my boots are a chunky size 43. Don't suppose you ever drive through C'Town to see if they fit?
Sat 21 May, 2011 6:50 pm
Oh, well I have an even chuckier size 44, so I guess im completely out of the running....

Doogs,
Jared (Pazzar) and I will be up your way next saturday morning on the way to Cathedral. We will stop by for coffee and I'll bring the crampons!!

If you have no luck with those guys, I might be interested I have size 41 boots.
I'm a bit bummed that I bought a pair of crampons that only fit the welts on my mountaineering boots which means I can't use my crampons on my normal walking boots.
Great if I'm going ice climbing but on the occasional day in Tassie where you get to use them lugging plastic boots around is a pain..
guys - keep in mind you need very stiff boots to use crampons otherwise you'll break 'em. Scarpa SL's are stiff enough for this type with the semi rigid mode..

Azza,
I'll let you know if Doogs doesn't take them.

Hard to resist at that price....
