FOUND - mid-range compact camera

Looking for a 2nd hand mid-range enthusiast compact in good condition from the last few years primarily for bushwalking and climbing trips.

In particular Olympuz XZ-10 or 2, Nikon P340, Panasonic LX7, maybe canon G series or s120 (budget probably can't stretch to a sony rx100). Most of the above cameras have a zoom of around 5x, 12mp and a sensor of around 1/1.7 and do a decent jpeg as well as having the capacity to shoot raw. Primarily for landscape's and macro shots. Particularly for climbing, would be nice to have something that would fit in a jacket pocket: hence looking for something reasonably compact. Not interested in a 'travel zoom' or bridge camera, and a mirrorless systems is probably overkill for what I need.

I'll keep my eye out on ebay & gumtree but thought I'd post here just in case anyone has something sitting in the back of the cupboard that they may wish to part with. Would love to pick something up before Christmas as I'm planning an extended walk or two over that time. I have a sony cybershot dsc-hx20v that has some dust and hair and a faint smudge on the lense. Happy to sell it for cheap if you can be bothered getting Sony to clean it (it is not in warranty and I am to busy writing thesis and preparing to move OS).

I have a Panasonic Lumix LX3 which is not getting any use these days, since I now have a Sony RX100.

The LX3 is of course the camera that started the prosumer compact camera class, and was released to glowing reviews.

It is excellent condition and includes a polarising filter, a leather case, a Tamrac 5692 fbag, plus the original packaging, documentation and software. There will be some SD cards for it too but I don't remember exactly the quantity/size what until I dig them out. I think I have a spare battery for it also.

The filter is mounted on a barrel which fits over the lens housing. This was the common way of fitting filters on compact camera lenses which typically don't have a threaded filter mount. All genuine Panasonic parts. Camera fits into the fabric case neatly without removing the filter and adapter.

Nowadays I think you could probably get a Magfilter to fit the lens.

It may be a bit older than the models you have nominated, but the LX3 is an excellent little camera and the brightness of its lens is widely recognised as its standout feature. It produces excellent images.

I've held on to it for a long time because I simply found it difficult to part with, but I'd rather see it getting used than sitting on the shelf here.

Yours for $150 plus postage if you are interested. It should all fit in a $10 prepaid postage satchel.
