Looking for a second hand Zpacks Duplex or similar Tarptent

Postby Jonut » Mon 11 May, 2020 7:08 pm

Hi,

I'm looking to buy a second hand zpacks duplex or similar style Tarptent?
Anyone have one in reasonable condition they don't need anymore?
Hoping it'll be the perfect lightweight tent for Larapinta/bibbulmun (when we're allowed to travel again  )

Thanks!

Hard to get second hand in Oz but they often pop up on reddit/fb/forums in the US, generally around US$500, they don't really seem to loose much value second hand.

A really good way to search various US second hand gear websites is lwhiker.com which consolidates them all.

Have you tried the Australian Tarptent contact? He lives in Melbourne I believe. From memory he lurks around these pages (or at least used to a few years back). If you can't find his contact details here, email Henry Shires and they will provide them.

I have the StratoSpire 2 and it is a fantastic tent for the weight. Really spacious. Wouldn't recommend for exposed ridgelines but I think you'd be pretty ok with it on your intended route, at least until you get to the south end. I would definitely recommend purchasing or making a footprint for it though as the floor is pretty thin compared to non UL tents.

Thanks for the help everyone. Found a second hand one on a US website as suggested and heading to Larapinta in July. Cheers!
The Tarptent's do look great too though Axel. They were my second preference
