We purchased this brand new quality jacket online from the USA and finally received it this week, only to find that sadly it was too big.

This is a two layer laminated genuine Gore-Tex fully waterproof breathable jacket.

Gore-Tex is probably the best waterproofing breathable material out there, and has certainly been around the longest. Cheaper waterproof jackets are nylon with a PU (polyurethane) coating and a DWR (durable water repellant) coating. These coatings wear off over time, but Gore-Tex uses a PTFE membrane laminated to the fabric if you like and therefore will never wear off.

Beware of Chinese knock-offs. This one is from the USA.

It's an ideal jacket for hiking, biking, walking, camping and staying dry outdoors. Being a shell, it allows you to layer to your required warmth underneath and use the shell to cut wind and stay dry.

Stuffs into an extremely small sack so ideal for carrying in a day pack or in the car and only weighs 430g

To buy an equivalent Gore-Tex Paclite jacket in an Australian shop, say Kathmandu, it will cost $299 (which is a bit ridiculous, hence our attempt to purchase from overseas).

Waterproof, breathable, GORE-TEX PacLite Shell fabric
Packs down into included stuff sack for transport(see image below)
    Adjustable three-piece hood
    Two large mesh-lined pockets
    Color Periwinkle
    Size M Reg

This is the lightest, most packable GORE-TEX rainwear available. The GORE-TEX PacLite Shell fabric and Gore-Seam® taped seams block water while allowing your body to breath to you keep you dry underneath. The Parka has adjustable cuffs and a drawcord-adjustable hem to seal out windblown rain. An adjustable three-piece hood moves with you for maximum peripheral vision. Parka packs into a separate stuff sack.
