(East Gipp VIC) FS : Terra Nova Quasar fly : WITHDRAWN
Posted: Tue 18 Feb, 2014 3:57 pmLong story short : the fly on my 15 year old Wild Country (now Terra Nova) Quasar tent became sticky and unusable so while my wife was on a UK holiday last year I got her to grab me a new Terra Nova Quasar flysheet for the tent. However when I had a closer look at the tent inner floor it was full of tiny and not-so-tiny holes and it had started to shed the coating and seam seal tape and appears a bit beyond repair.....should've looked closer before getting the fly I guess.
So I'm offering the flysheet for sale : genuine "made in the UK" branded Terra Nova Quasar fly dark green in colour.....very heavy duty, tape sealed, 8000mm coating, 6 guy-out tabs, double zippered door and vent at each end and the usual 3 position fastening connectors for the pole ends. This is for a Standard Terra Nova Quasar.....not the "super" or other models. My inner tent poles measure : long 3658mm (without the tips) and the short poles at 2845mm (without the tips). I have made one improvement modification to each vent opening as they laid flat when the fly was pitched with the tent and not scooped-open like my original fly. I removed the 2 plastic vent supports from my old flysheet and fitted these to the new TN fly by making a small incision at the end of the vent leading edge where it meets the fly and inserted the plastic vent support....then sealed that small incision area with some SeamGrip. Neat, effective, strong and very functional....now both vents stay open when the tent is pitched and allow a far better airflow. Apart from a few pitches in the back yard while I was doing the vent mod the fly is unused. Flysheet also has 6 guy-lines and I've fitted them with Hilleberg line runners.
This flysheet was seriously expensive (Terra Nova list it in their website at 286 GBP !!!) and while the wife didn't pay that it was pretty close. So I'll cop a loss on this and learn to be more careful with my tent damage assessments I guess. PRICE posted anywhere in AU : $150.00 If this flyshett sells I will also have a brand new Terra Nova Quasar 4 pole set for this tent available : 2 long poles each of 3658mm and 2 shorter poles at 2845 each.....measurements don't include pole tips. Or if you want both we can work something out. TN's RRP on the pole-set is 160GBP.....I'll be happy with $100 posted for these.....but I want to sell the flysheeet first.....or both to the same buyer. Once the fly is gone.....the pole set is up for sale
