I am hoping to buy a sleeping bag for around $100 or so that will keep a cold female warm at zero and slightly below.

I am open to synthetic or down but I wouldn't want it to be to much over 1kg so I'm possibly limiting it to down.

Again I might be expecting a bit much but I need to try thanks.

is this actually a wanting to buy from forum members, which is what this forum is sub forum is for, or are you asking advice on what you should go out and buy?

I actually thought your request was plain and unambiguous, although maybe a tad optimistic.

I have a bag that qualifies on one point [ the cost] but fails on the other
I have a bag that qualifies on the other point but I want a LOT more than a $100- for it
But given the number of members who sell stuff as they upgrade i think
you may be able to reach an agreeable halfway point
After all 0C is not a winter bag and there should be something out there

Pretty sure I have post this elsewhere but this http://www.harveynorman.com.au/roman-ex ... g-bag.html is rated to around 0 degrees, weighs 1.4kg and cost $50.
For a cooler trip you could throw in a thermal liner but that will take you a bit over your budget and weight, I really like thermal liners mine made my $20 Aldi bag more tolerable in Tassie hahaha!

Thanks gents we don't have Aldi down here I don't think. That $50 synthetic bag seems cheap, it might be worth considering but I'm skeptical to its rating!

I'll just add that I'm not fussed on the condition. It can be damaged, I'm happy to fix.

This is probably too far over the weight limit, but the Marmot Trestles 15 is $150 at Wild Earth (http://www.wildearth.com.au/buy/marmot-trestles-15-9c-womens-hooded-compact-sleepi/212602422) and has a comfort rating of -4.6*. However, it weighs in at a little over 2kg, Or at 1.5kg, there is the Marmot Trestles 30, but that only has a lower limit of -1* so it may not be too comfortable for a cold sleeper at 0*.

For the money i dont think you'll get anything warmer then this.

Forget the 'rating' they are 'survivability' ratings, in reality i think most people would be warm in the intermediate cold bag on its own down to around -2 to -4degrees maybe lower if they are a warm sleeper.

Its 1.8kg but again for the money i think its fantastic value. You can get them even cheaper from the USA, and even cheaper again depending on the condition your happy with. I bought one brand new from the USA for under $100. A lot of the additional weight is in the fabric and over sized zip. It as bomb proof as sleeping bags come.

bare in mind a well looked after down bag will have a far longer lifespan than a synthetic fill bag, for that reason down can be value for money,
synthetic fills are far more prone to breaking down over time with repeated use..
I've got a down bag I started using thirty years ago. it still lofts extremely well and keeps me about as warm as it ever did.

Whats peoples thoughts on these?

It's the bag I've been keeping in my ute but I just got a cheap synthetic for that purpose and it's now surplus to requirements and I need some cash for other projects music related

You'd probably need the 2nd Aliexpress bag you listed to be warm enough for a cold woman at your target temps. Doesn't look terrible specs wise but it'll be AU$200 by the time you get it and if you end up spending that much it might open up more used options.

One way to do it on the cheap would be to get something like the Aldi down bag that was recently sold for about $100 and open it up and stuff some more down in it.

$200-250 would certainly open up a totally different league of bags available to you.

This would have been fantastic for under $250.

Thanks Im liking the the straighter cut bag. At $140 to my door, 800g of down and a total weight of 1080g I think its winning the race at the moment. But I'm considering all options at this stage.

I think $150 would be the max id want to spend on this bag for the use it'll get.

the ali express bag is stitch through compartment construction, minus four would be the extreme rating for that bag, its going to be a lot colder than a properly baffled down bag for the same weight....
te real rating for that bag will be well above zero I'd expect....

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. A member has offered me an old down bag for $45 that fits the criteria so Im all sorted. Its going to be bit bulky but at that price I may even use the contents in a more modern construction of my own.
