Hi all,

Do you love walking/cycling/kayaking in the great outdoors? Are you inspired by people and travel? Can you be fun and professional at the same time? Read on because we want to hear from you.

We are inviting applications to work with Inspiration Outdoors in 2016 and beyond.

The position will be based in either Sydney or Melbourne from 2017, with 2016 spent in Western Australia.

The Job entails:

2016: We want to indoctrinate you! Come over to Western Australia for 9-12 months and meet the Inspiration Outdoors team and learn our ways. Guide multi day walking tours and get to understand the operations management side of the business. The job initially entails bus driving, cooking, walking and story telling/interpretation. Based in Fremantle, you will travel for between 4 and 14 days at a time. Most of the tours fall between March to November with the busiest period being spring.

2017 and Beyond: Return to the East coast as our East Coast operations manager/lead guide. Run tours independently, recruit and manage other guides, get involved in marketing and administration.

Our guides must have CAKE:

– Caring nature. The number one thing we are looking for is a guide with a genuine interest in people and concern for their well being.
– Attentive to details and people’s needs.
– Knowledgable and interested in learning. You might have a particular interest in history, plants, birds, geology.
– Enthusiastic! Lots of energy is required to be a great guide.

Essential Qualifications:

– Senior or Wilderness First Aid certificate (or higher)
– Medium Rigid driver’s licence
– Clear police record
- Fit and capable of the physical demands of our tours
- F Endorsement on driver’s licence

Highly Preferred Skills/Knowledge/Experience:

– Guiding Experience, especially on multi-day tours.
– Cooking skills and an interest in wholesome and delicious food. You don’t need to be a master chef, but you should be a little beyond fried eggs and bacon.
– Knowledge and experience of various walking trails around Australia. The more the better.
– Physically fit. You need to be comfortable walking for up to 25 km with a 10 kg back pack.
- An interest in mountain biking and kayaking is also highly preferred.

How to apply:

Send an email to walk@inspirationoutdoors.com.au with your resume and an outline of how your skills/experience and, most importantly, attitudes align with what we have set out above. Don’t worry if you don’t have all of the skills or knowledge though – there is plenty of time to learn on the job.

We will be collecting resumes over the next few months and conducting interviews in December. A final decision will be made at the end of the year. Skype interviews can also be arranged.

Thank you all. We are really looking forward to adding to our small but wonderful team. We hope to hear from you soon.

Kind regards,

Simon and Emily
