Hi - I'm after an old, reasonably heavy duty top loader day pack for bush bashing. Somewhere in the 20–30L range. Don't want to spend a heap because it'll get some pretty rough treatment. Let me know if you have anything lying around, thanks! :)

Try an old Army pack. They are heavy, poorly designed and painful to carry, but they are almost indestructible. From memory they were designed to withstand being dropped from helicopters.

I guess that Aussie Disposals would carry them. Also, anyone that still has one in a shed somewhere will be very glad of the opportunity to get rid of it!

Framed or un-framed?

I got an old 1950's Paddy Pallin Federation pack I'm happy to sell for $50 + postage. It's A frame so doesn't pack down well, I'm thinking it will cost a bit to post.
It is in excellent condition for its age and very much usable.
Frame is bent to suit a small-medium but you can bend the frame to fit maybe XL. Main reason I'm happy to move on is because I'm nervous about bending the frame.

It would scrub up pretty good. Inside the pack is the name Wayne Thorp, Franklin, TAS

That's funny as I was going to offer my own PaddyMade for the same money. Mine is the square frame and in great condition for its age. As above bombproof and very much usable
