Preferably single compartment
Preferably less than 2.5kg
Good/VG/excellent condition
Harness Size to fit Back Length 41cm (Height 165cm) (eg something equivalent to Macpac Size 2 Harness or One Planet M1 harness)
Hip Belt Length: Needs to be able to adjust/tighten to 72cm. He's skinny (50kg)

I've mostly listed old classics, but open to newer, lighter suggestions...

14 yo has outgrown what we have: Deuter Fox 40, MacPac Ravine Size 1, Macpac Canyon (women's harness 28-38cm)
For 3-7 day hikes (including Larapinta, Overland Track etc)
Obviously pack fit is the most important but COVID makes trying on and buying backpacks in Melbourne tricky currently...

If you don't have anything to sell, suggestions of packs you'd recommend to look out for second-hand on gumtree/ebay etc appreciated.

Hi There, My 13yo is about 160+cm and late last year got an Osprey Renn 50lt as her first bigger pack and it fits her beautifully. It is a very simple pack, not too many bells and whistles, fabric is robust, only mesh on it it a little on each upper part of the side pockets. We added shock cord to the rear and lid of the pack for her to stash a jacket as she was walking etc. I was pleasantly impressed, especially given that it was definitely an entry level pack/price point. They are not terribly heavy at all either, 1.6kg off the top of my head?
I recently had my hands on a 50lt small size brand new Osprey Aura and the Renn was still the better overall fit for her against the much more expensive Aura. I recently owned (and greatly disliked) a Peak Aspiration, she did put it on, the hip belt (small size) was far too large for her though.

I had an Eather Pro, comfortable but very fussy and not single compartment so I sold it on. I prefer single compartment rucksacks with liners myself.
I haven't been in a physical store for over 8 months myself, except for Safeway/ALDI and Bunnings.

I have a One Planet Stiletto which I tried to sell some time back. It has had some use but is in excellent condition. It's the 60 litre short.

The Osprey Renn and Rook look pretty good, I hadn't looked at them before.

Go for a ~50 litre rather than a 70! Sleeping bags tend to be the bulkiest item, so being summer there are smaller options and get something compact next winter if needed.
(for example I picked up a Klymit versa blanket for this season, on spesh for $60. Not too bulky for synthetic and 600g. So far I'm good down to 10 degrees)

Will check out Osprey Renn, Rook etc. 1.5kg & $199 new is tempting.
But like Moondog, preference is for simple single compartment pack.
So One Planet Stiletto could work if F1 harness fits.
I know 55+ litre seems big for 14yo, but we also do snow camping (& 4 season stuff doesn't fit in 40 litre pack) & we've done packrafting, so thought 50-55 litre was minimum
I was hoping to get a pack with an adjustable harness that he could get 2-3 years out of before outgrowing it...But maybe that's unrealistic?

i got one of the new 1P Extroverts - 55l, 1 compartment, floating lid, diff harness sizes and weighs 1300gm - i took it on a 10day walk to PB in Jan and it totally rocked - it copped a beating in the head-high scrub, but was totally up for it, easily the most comfortable pack I've worn. Narrower than the 1P WBA which I took to the Dragons Teeth last year, Only prob is they they sell out the minute a new batch comes in.
