Hi Franco.
I was just wondering how bug proof the moment is? From memory when looking on the tarp tent site it's a single skin/hybrid sort of tent (please correct me there I could be really wrong). Where I do most of my solo hiking we get a lot of bugs and ticks (and sometimes ants). I'm also sporting a lovely large welt on my shoulder two weeks after a lovely spider bit me in my sleep) so I prefer to keep the pesky blighters out. Any feedback on this would be great as I'm quite interested.
Ps great photo on the snow!

Hi Mic
All of the current Tarptent models are fully bug proof once you zip the door/s shut.
The mesh is no-see hum type, very fine.
This may give you a better idea of what it looks like ;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYjOkxR4sgcand for a bit of fun ....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWZQKivY2SAI don't think that I ever camped here without ants about. (apart from when on the snow...)

Thanks Franco.
One last question how many extra pegs, guy lines do you recommend to fully equip the tent for nasty weather. Also how much extra is the additional cross pole (sorry I looked on the tarptent site but couldn't see it).
Cheers
Mic

Hi Mic
The x pole is $15 .
The tent comes with 2 pegs .
I would recommend at least 2 extra pegs (the 8" Easton are $2.50 each) and about 8' of guyline ($4 tot) to attach to the main pole.
(hard to see but the pole guylines are attached in that shot. We did get "a bit" of wind)
BTW, the extra pole is mostly for some snow loading. Could help in strong wind .
(Henry says it does, I am not convinced)
I always carry another 2 or 3 pegs of a different kind. Usually Y and nail pegs ( a long gutter nail is not a bad idea)
Henry is designing a new web site , so maybe finding the correct accessories will be a bit easier.
It is looking good already.
For the acc just work on 1US=1AU

Hey Mic
I recently took my new TT moment to NZ
Sandflies were unbearable on one particular night -in the tent however I was completely fine
It was a seriously good test of the 'bug-proofness' !
Also slept comfortably in a one planet cocoon 500/neoair down to -3 deg one morning as well!
Cheers Rod

Yes the no see ums and those sand flies are the same. Called midge over in Scotland.
Tiny but incredibly annoying.
Those and ants are the reason why I ,in practice, prefer a Tarptent over the tarp/bivy kind of solution.
I had a look at those One Planet bags when they first came out . Nice stuff.
The Highlite was originally purchased from Paddy Pallin.

and all these new zealanders were complaining of our spiders and snakes? chances of getting bitten by spiders and snakes here are statistically less than getting bitten by sandflies in some parts of nz.
This is what happens when you sleep in a tent without bug protection. My mate seemed to grow a few extra knuckles when he decided to not use a bivy inside a floorless tent.

Some comments on the Highlite sleeping bag.
It is one of the lightest/most compressible bags for the given temperature range, 2c and up.
It is about 500g.
![Image](http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e389/Francophoto/WM-Highlite-sack.jpg)
Often WM bags are described as conservatively rated, they are pretty much spot on for me. I also have the Ultralite.
Main reason for selling is that within that temperature range I use a quilt.
It compresses down to 15x 28cm. I have some clothing inside the stuff sack in the pictures because i always keep the bag in the fairly large provided cotton bag.
PP sells that locally for $550

If it were pink i would keep it.
That would be to go with my pink mat .
The colour in the Paddy Pallin link is accurate.
This is close (on my screen...)

I like the colour (purple!), if I hadn't just bought a WM Summerlite I'd consider it myself!
Cheers,
JB
P.S. Franco, I just bought a Sublite Sil - nice! Haven't had a chance to use it yet (and won't have a chance until Jan) but will post a report when I do - total weight for pack (GoLite Jam 2010), sleeping bag, tent (including some extra stakes/guys) and ground sheet now approx. 900g + 550g + 700g + 43g = 2.2kg

Hey
I still have not seen a Sublite Silk...(I do have an idea of what it looks like,,,)
There is some stock coming , to me, but it is a bit of a problem child . (long story)
Your kit is a good example on how to do LW AND still be very comfortable.
Nice...
(I could have advertised the bag as "never used" but it has been...)

nice.. very nice!
For nsw conditions, that is perfect for summer.
I cant see how going ultralight in this case is dangerous or unprepared.
you might even be able to lighten it further with franco's hilight

Forgot to include my full length Neo Air - 410g, plus Evazote foam "pad" (GG Thinlight pad - 55g) when colder. Still approx 2.7 kg for pack, tent, bag, mat/s, groundsheet.
I'm thinking with the right combination of clothing (varied according to the conditions) and possibly my bivvy (198g) when it's colder, I could use that combination for 3 seasons in NSW. Would change to a warmer bag and a slightly larger pack (GoLite Pinnacle - 926g) for NSW winter.
Hmm, 'think I have to keep my sleeping bag collection to 3!

Honesty is the best policy (my Dad always said) and at least users of this forum will know that the bag will genuinely be "as new" (you know your gear and would have washed, stored and looked after it properly!)
Cheers,
JB

Here is the subtle (...) difference between purple and pink.
![Image](http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e389/Francophoto/odds/Purple.png)
![Image](http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e389/Francophoto/odds/Pink.png)
The bag is close to the first square on the second raw of the purple chart (that is the first chart, the other is the pink one)

The bag is rated +2c and I think that is pretty accurate.
I can layer inside that so it is easy enough to boost the temp a few degrees.
BTW, contrary to other opinions, for me a silk sheet (apart from keeping the bag clean) does boost the temp a bit too.
