The Magellan eXplorist XL ensures you can easily see where you are going with an 8.89cm diagonal, sunlight viewable, high contrast, colour TFT LCD screen. It is the largest screen on the market for hand-held trekking GPS’s.
A very rugged handheld GPS that has unlimited map storage with 30MB of available internal memory plus expandable memory through a built-in SD card reader/writer. The Magellan eXplorist XL therefore has a great deal of versatility for camping, boating, fishing, hunting or driving because it will accept the full range of compatible SD cards offered by Magellan (Australia).
Measuring 16.25 x7.37 x 3.30 cm, and weighing 312 grams the water-resistant eXplorist XL has WAAS-enabled, 3-metre accuracy; a built-in base map of major roads, highways, parks, airports and waterways; plus the ability to store an unlimited number of waypoints, routes and track logs through SD-card memory expansion. It is very easy to see and use in the field and has a backlit keypad and joystick that provides one-touch access to key features and built-in help files. It’s PC-style file system and high-speed USB data port allows you to easily create a route or waypoints using the included Magellan MapSend mapping software CD, transfer the data to the XL and then follow the route or GO TO a destination using the Discover Aus Streets and Track Topo software on the included SD card. Or, you can do it all backwards and save the hike for viewing when you get home.
The included Magellan Geocaching Manager software simplifies this activity by loading geocaching data directly from the Internet to the XL to eliminate the need to print website information or manually enter GPS coordinates into a receiver.
