If we lost summer, what is in store for us in winter? Could it be time to consider some snow shoes? Or will it be totally mild? If we lost winter that could be a plus!

... I was born and raised in Lonnie and I know Mowbray and Ravenswood well. Kicking 1/2 inch ice off the puddles in winter are some of the coldest winters I have ever experienced in my entire life. These places are like sports grounds - always the coldest parts of town. I've had sub zero temperatures in a tent on the Central Plateau and felt warmer.

Sorry, abowen it was very much a tongue in cheek comment. It always seems to get the worst weather in lonnie.
I honestly think it has been good summer. OK I have been snowed on acouple of times, but the majority of the time it has been great. And as someone with a large vegetable garden, tyhe weather has been perfect.

Last day of summer and this is the forecast for the first day of Autumn.
Forecast for Tuesday :
Cloudy periods with showers, frequent at times with small hail, and snow on the mountain to about 800 metres. Fresh and gusty southwesterly winds, strong at times.
snow to 800 *&%$#! metres!

I stayed in Hobart for part of Dec/Jan so was there for summer. I think it was on a Tuesday
. Sorry I couldn't resist.
Actually I found most days were reasonable except for a bit of wind.

You obviously haven't been anywhere near me for the last 3 months then... Every time I decide I'll go for a walk, the weather's bad. I was considering going tomorrow...
The odd thing is that as much as I've been complaining about the lack of warmth here, my sister has been complaining about the heat in Perth. Maybe they have somehow absorbed all Tassie's summer heat.

Actually, although I'm a Southerner at heart I'll have to stick up for the summers here in general - the last couple have been CONSISTENTLY fairly warm, unlike Hobart which has wild fluctuations. This one has been consistently cool with a few warmish days, and very wet which wouldn't be quite so bad if it would actually warm up with it. It is nice having green grass all summer.

Not funny.
Five weeks down there and I think I had a total of five days sunshine. How one earth did eggs manage so many photos with lovely clear blue skies?
Still, walking in those conditions is character building although, as Bobby used to say, 'who needs that much character?'

Just noticed your comment NNW.
We were on deck from 24/1 till 30/1.
We were on Mt Anne from 24/1 till 27/1 and only had 1 good afternoon of reasonable weather - but we had avoided the jet stream winds of the 23rd.
Then over to Mt Field on 28th & 29th which were 2 good days.
Not too bad overall - but not what I would call stunning weather.
Not sure which photos you are referring to. We were in NZ for 3.5 weeks - and that was a real mixed bag for weather, but no fresh snow.
