Brand new tent, only set up in the backyard. I've decided this tent is way too warm for use in the subtropics!
Total weight is 799g, for a full double wall tent. Plenty of room for 1 person, vestibule and sheltered entry.
$295

Karen doesn't seem to be checking this forum much so I hope it is OK if I let you know that it is sold. Sorry Mac - I bought the tent from her last week.

Jose: good price and, if the reviews are anything to go by, great tent. Have fun with it!

Thanks Mac. As yet I've only set it up at home and I'm really pleased with it's lightweight. Looking forward to testing it out in the bush and see how it performs in a bit of wind and rain - which we have been having quite a bit of lately!

Thanks ILUVSWTAS, that sounds promising. I'll be thrilled if it proves to stand up to testing. It is not much smaller than my Microlight and almost a third of it's weight. Do you rely on those little hairpins for pegs or do you play safe and take a few bigger pegs just in case of rough weather?

Hahaha yeeees the pegs......
I HAVE used them, but I dont. Get some real ones. Besides that it is a good tent.

Yes, I was curious whether anyone would trust them on an overnight walk. They are probably fine for the back lawn on a quiet summer day. Thanks for your confirmation on that.

Heh north-north-west and ILUVSWTAS, (and others)
Have you been using the Photon Elites this winter, if so, how are they performing??
What sort of conditions have you used them in???

I don't have a Photon Elite, I have a Laser Competition. And I'm selling it.
It just doesn't work for me. A personality clash, perhaps. It probably isn't any smaller than the Akto or the Scarp, but it feels smaller.

Hi NNW,
Understand the personality clash.
Not really looking for a one man tent a the moment, but am considering the options.
May do a solo Tassie trip early next year.
Have you ever had the Laser Competition out in any full on weather.
Snow, bad winds, etc???
Melinda

The Scarp is much bigger than the Laser or Photon.

Hi stepbystep,
Just looking at Tarptent site.
Like the Scarp 1 with the freestanding pole option.
Not in any rush to by a one man tent so intend to take my time.
Bit of a gear freak so always happy to check it all out.

I've only pitched mine once, mel, and in very sheltered conditions. The Tozzie boys have given theirs more of a workout. But mine's still for sale, if you're ever interested.
I've only pitched the Scarp 1 once, also very sheltered, but it feels far more comfortable and is really quick and easy to pitch. I'll be using the Akto on trips where there's a higher chance of being weathered in, and the Scarp everything else when I need to consider weight.

Hi north-north-west and ILUVSWTAS,
Thanks for the advice.
One of my mates had a Scarp when we were in the Arthurs earlier this year.
We didn't experience any really bad weather apart from rain, rain and then a bit more.
But I like the look of it for a one person tent.
Shame it isn't the same weight as the Photon Elite!
