I've seen packs like this on Ebay etc and to me the material looks shiny and thin and I wonder about the strength and quality. What's it like in real life? I personally wouldn't like to buy something like thius unseen.

Well we share something in common! I always question material strength whenever buying something online (checkout my tent post/ topic) and i can personally say that this is extremely tough stuff, the pictures on the deuter site are quite misleading as the material looks more like sil nylon than canvas ! The actual reason im selling is because i bought two packs a karrimor jaguar 75-95 and the Deuter, i havent quite decided but i am leaning towards keeping the karrimor as it has a smaller harness (surprisingly), the reason i need a small harness is because i am only 15 and even then have a small back for my age as im all legs! The advantages of the deuter in my mind though would be the water bottle holders, i find these the only pockets of any pack ive seen that actually hold a 1 litre bottle, the easy use harness (vari quick) and the canvas outer. Again the material is tough!

If your pack is still available I would be interested as we have the Deuter AirContact smaller versions and need to upgrade.

*Canvas like material, the nylon's architecture if you will allows it to be as tough as most canvas's whilst being lighter. If you own a Deuter you will know this! Looking at the material on the site they use three different materials on the pack; Deuter ballistic 420 denier, Deuter ripstop 330 denier and Deuter Duratex 1000 denier. These materials are placed on areas that have different requirements for material, eg the Duratex is placed on the bottom because it is the toughest and Deuter has correctly realised that this is a area of wear and tear.
