I have a Hilleberg Akto I might sell... everyone knows the quality of these tents, so no talk up required.

It is in excellent condition, and includes a Hilleberg Footprint valued at around $70.

$340 plus postage.

Yeh i never use my favourite tent, even though it is a bit heavier... so this will force that to change. Still having an ultralight and a midweight to fall back on.

The akto is the number one selling one person tent worldwide. And for good reason. They are flawless.

Since i only have 3 tents too...

Was planning on the Goondie 1-30 when they're back in stock - for less claustrophobosity (??) than some one person tents. Wondered re decent snow falls with the Akto - but there are some impressive photos from Norway on the net.

BUT, i can't consider it without getting inside one - do you know anyone this end of the state - (distributor or) private - who might be willing to let me check out their akto?? You'll probably sell yours when everyone gets back from their Easter trip, but i thought it might be worth asking - maybe someone you could PM first??

Im not sure of any stores up there stocking them?? There are a few members on the forum who own one, Ent just sold his I believe for a touch over what im asking, to Taurë-rana.

Yes they are designed for areas that get snow, the angle of the tent means it would slide off nicely.

Oh, and another thought -
Under what circs wouldn't you recommend taking the Akto? ie why do you need the heavier tents? Just comfort? Or some conditions?

Here's a recent example... Have you not done much Tassie walking?? I'd almost guarantee a Hilleberg would stand up fine.

Quite an experience!
I am working on the Tassie walks. Nearly got blown off Shelf Camp once, but the good old tent held.. We did have to keep moving the large rocks that we had the guys attached to back into place thru the night.

Have got in touch with Taurë-rana and should be able to go & check it this morning. Might not get net access till later in the day though (meant to be taking someone on a walk). But i'm very interested in your tent!

Checked it out, love it. Just one more question i think - sorry if a silly one. Not good at processing info quickly.

Not being a free standing tent, the corner pegs (floor) would be crucial for proper pitch i guess, without much room to play . What do you do on rock / tent platforms? Just have extra cord to extent out @ 45 degrees?

Tent platforms I avoid at all costs, awfully uncomfortable things!! And rock... well similar :p I've never had an issue.

The Akto relies on eight holding points so not platform friendly as a free standing design. If on platforms suggest rope extension for the bottom corner four points as then you can use the same peg/holding point for the guy line on each corner.

Throw four screw in cup hooks in your pack, they work wonders on the platforms, weigh nothing and leave no trace once removed.
