Hi,
Looking at going skiing in nz around mid June. Was thinking of getting away for a solo walk. Being winter, not keen on alpine. Don't mind some snow though. Happy to take all my gear including tent so don't need a hut.
Any ideas

Skiing mid june - good luck!
I've got a book called 'South Island Weekend Tramps' its got a wide variety of walks - probably google it and see if you can get a copy,
looks like plenty of below the snowline stuff to keep you occupied.
I'm using it to plan a few trips when I'm over there in a couple of weeks, has been quite helpful.
Will probably help you get an idea too about what might be suitable heading into winter.

where abouts will you be based?? you could check out some coastal walks like the South Coast/Hump Ridge tracks, or Abel Tasman and Heaphy Tracks in the north of the south island. OR I had some friends that raved about Nelson Lakes National Park and i heard the Travers-Sabine Circuit is amazing!
