We are booked to walk the Tongariro North circuit in about 3 weeks and had also been hoping to climb Taranaki(looking unlikely at this stage). We have been trying to get some info from DOCS pertaining to the current snow conditions in the Tongariro area so that we can watch the weather over the coming weeks and get a feel for how things will be when we get there, however the rangers have not been very forthcoming with information. Hoping for current snowline level and average depth on the track. Any insight anyone may have would be hugely appreciated.
