Just a few snaps from the BWT Strollers walk for November...

Parting with Oscar at the Arm River car park.

Nice and flat so far...

Lunch stop in the mossy forest.

Mt. Pillenger shrouded in mist.

A penguin on a bridge!

Image
Nice to be pretty much up on top.

Crossing another bridge.

Some of our first glimpses of Mt. Oakleigh

Image
Covus' damn fungi - this shot netted me two leech bites!

Better signposting than some roads!

Image
A welcome sight - New Pelion Hut

Image
Enviroterrorists on the left avoid the mud - this photo caused me to miss Corvus' warning of a looming deep bog hole and as I hurried to catch up - I sank a bit and Corvus (after checking I wasn't drowning) politley said "I told you so".

Image
Corvus shows off "his" hut (Old Pelion). That window sill is Corvus' handy work from many moons ago! Oh and some tool covered in mud.

Image
An old mine adit.

Dawn from New New Pelion Hut

Image
Heading off for Mt Oakleigh

Image
Troubled bridge over water!

Image
What a morning!

Image
The Pandanii forest is a neat addition to the Mt. Oakleigh ascent.

Image
A taste of what's to come.

Image
Awsome views from the first false summit.

Image
Barn Bluff and Cradle Mt. in the distance.

Image
Devon Annie on the real summit of Mt. Oakleigh with Barn Bluff in the background.

Image
Me on the Summit (Penguin made an early bee line back to the hut after the second false summit, Geoskid was busy laying caches at the second summit, Corvus was just getting out of bed back in the Hut and only DA and I actually botherd with the this - th real summit).

Image
Back in the car park with Oscar and his new friend Lance.

Looks like you guys had a lot of fun. Oakleigh is a great mountain - I love the little tight pandanii section which reminds me of a natural pandanii hedge maze. And the view out over the rock pillars is breath-taking.

Oh so that is what Corvus looks like. I recently went to a talk on the Corvus (Forest Raven) by a woman who has studied that very interesting bird species

I really loved these photos and great to see who's who in the shot . Maybe one day I'll be able to join a walk if the timing is right. It might be evident why I liked so much from my avatar. Keep up the photos , they are great. SC

Mt Oakleigh is also a favourite of mine, and we went up the arm river feb last year and stayed near pelion hut in our tents. I am a leader with the North West Walking Club. We had fantastic views like yours. A Helicopter landed at Pelion Hut. Keep up the good work and pics. Granny
