I hiked to the top of Stacks bluff from Storys creek. The views are fantastic from the summit.Mt Wellington ,Launceston, the Hazards,Maria island and most of the abels of the North East can be viewed. A side trip to Tranquil tarn is well worth the effort.

- The cairn on the summit.

Nice time of the year to visit this area with all the native plants in flower. A couple of good clumps of waratahs around Tranquil tarn which adds to the beauty.

Been up there twice Tazz; certainly is an enjoyable walk with fantastic views; I also love the second pic from Tranquil Tarn.
The greatest concern that I had on both my trips there was leaving my car at Story's Creek (I've heard quite a few interesting stories about the locals at Rossarden!).

Is a concern for me in this area also, the old logging track at the start of the walk has been improved due to recent logging in the area so now it is possible to drive further up the track.Drive to the end of the new road and then drive a little further up the old section and park in a clearing on the right.may be a bit safer Phil.

Beautiful spot and great pics. If you are worried about your car then may i make a suggestion. Do it from the northern end and park at the skifields and do it as a long day walk via lake youl. if ur lucky u might just see the beach!

How long does it take to walk from the skifields to Stacks ? Sounds like an interesting walk,at least it,s less driving time from Launceston.
