Okay Brian I can take a hint  Admittedly I have been a bit slack with getting these sorted, but here they are at long last.

The first week of Feb saw a group of five of us motoring acros Lake Gordon to the base of the Pleadies for an assault on the Spires - or that was the plan anyway. Because of the weather (it was too hot and dry !) we only made it as far as Lake Curly where we relaxed for a couple of days before heading back out to the boat at lake Gordon.

The trip was a lot harder than I was expecting, mainly due to the lack of water and dehydration but there was a fair bit of nasty scrub to contend with along the way. The fires at Wayatinnah also made for poor visibility which was a pity, but it also meant we had some amazing sunsets at Curly.

A good taste of the area which served as motivation for another assault on the area in the future

Thanks scrubmaster

Your first campsite looks fantastic.
I presume the nasty obstacle was the ridge line above your campsite - heading towards Mt Curly?

A real pity about the smoke though.
I have already remarked on your beatiful sunset shot over Lake Curly - gorgeous.

What is the advantage of a Lake Gordon approach vs the standard Denison access?
It seems that the scrub on the lower slopes near Pokana is a great challenge?

Brian

Nice photos, scrub master, some of them are very familiar. We camped for two nights in your "pleasant (but hot) walking" photo, where we nearly got blown away, and the lake you stayed at on your first night was one I walked to with one other person the day we climbed Pokana. We thought it would have been a nice place to camp.

Tassie's weather! We were hoping to get up Mt Curly, or North Star, but it was too wet and cold! At least we didn't have water problems though.

Great photos Scrub Master, looks like a great trip, pity about all the smoke but it has produced some nice results at Lake Curly.
