Am I missing something on how to see a larger image for the photo competition entries? 800px on my 4k monitor is a post card sized image which isn't really ideal to tell whether a photo is sharp or see the detail... or maybe I just need a larger monitor?

Sorry, I think I was wrong below. I am sure it used to be that way. I can’t seem to access the larger image anymore.

Clicking on the image should open a larger copy. Photo comp entries can be up to 10MB and a must be a minimum of 2000px on the long edge. In the initial view, all the comp entries are scaled down.

Yes unfortunately all entries are automatically hard rescaled to 800 pixels by the photo comp software.
There have been requests over the years for images to be shown as submitted, or at least at a more viewable size, but I'm not aware that a workable solution has been found.

tried to upload to photo competition and the below tab comes up, what does it mean must be in 2000?? its the size I assume and how do I configure it to this size??

According to rules "Photos must be at least 2000 pixels on their longest dimension".
Resizing to meet that requirement depends on what platform you are using.
In my case I mainly transfer photos from camera to Windows 10 PC and use either inbuilt utilities or a photo processing app.
Plenty of free apps around for basic stuff like resizing, cropping and so on, but also The GIMP is a very good free alternative to things like Photoshop.
It has a lot of sophisticated features that I am never likely to use, but it's easy enough to use the basic functions.
If photos are on your phone there is usually an inbuilt photo processing app that will resize.
Otherwise free apps can be installed from Google Play or App Store, depending on your device.
Look for those that have excellent reviews and avoid any that contain ads etc, HTH.
