Bushwalk Australia

Hi All,

I took my two plus a mate on the mate's first "bushwalk" two days ago/yesterday - parked the car at Garie Beach in the Royal National Park, and walked 2km south to the campsite at North Era. Took a kite and a frisbee and the boys played on the beach for hours, camped, played more in the morning then we walked out at lunchtime.

See the photo below, a red-tailed swift chose to insert itself perfectly into frame.



Does anyone else have a similar photo where an animal's put itself perfectly (or otherwise) into shot?

Close... I fixed my link.

I had a subtle one - took a nice shot of a paddock and only realised after checking it later that I was being spied on at the time.
I have enlarged the culprit to assist

Got this guy without noticing, saw him shuffle 20 seconds later and got this amazing zoom pic
He shuffled off as I approached, seemed like he was just sitting on the edge of the range contemplating the view, I felt guilty for disturbing him...

An accidental wombat is pretty impressive!

Here's a nice photo of Barn Bluff that is marred by a speeding currawong on the mid right. I obviously should have used a faster shutter speed.

Took this one a few weeks ago at Waihi Beach in NZ. When showing the photo's to some people someone asked what the dark shadow is below the boat wash in the middle of the photo. I reackon it's a shark but you be the judge.

It is definitely in the water. The wave pattern is over it. It would be a BIG shark if that's what it is. (That's not a shark blown up - watch Deep Blue Sea if you want to see a shark blown up).

i dont think the water is over it. It is so out of focus and the distance between it and the sea means that it almost transulcent. Not to mention the relative speed that the insect would be travelling. Like looking through chicken wire at different levels of focus. If your close to the wire when focused at infinity you will see right through the wire
In the attached image, (its hard to tell as its only sky behind the insects) but in the lower left insect you can see that its slightly transulent due to the blur and I imagine the effect would be greater if it was travelling quicker rather than hovering as this type of insect did.

I'm with wT - Whatever it is, it's bigger than the boat.

My husband (50yr old surfer) reckons it looks like a white pointer.

I too was a surfer and I believe the N.Z. pic features a whale. Wide side fins, no fin cutting the surface, size. white on side fins, probably horizontal fluke. Lookin' like a whale to me, especially on that side of N.Z.
