North Prom swamp conditions

Postby Drew » Fri 13 Jan, 2012 11:37 am

Hello, after doing lots of reading and research on this forum I've finally joined up! So, my first post:

I was wondering if anyone has walked the northern section of Wilson's Prom in the last few months? If so, how swampy are the swamp sections at present? My partner and I were planning to do a south Prom walk in February but unfortunately it's still closed, so we're thinking of doing the northern section. I walked the north Prom a few years ago during the drought and the swamp was dry, but I know that in the past it has had sections of chest deep muddy water. If I take my girlfriend on a hike like that she won't be a happy camper at all!

Cheers,

Drew

Honestly the best idea is to phone them up, they will give you the very latest info.

Thanks, not sure why I didn't think of that! They told me that rangers had been through a couple of weeks ago and the swamp was thigh deep, although the person I spoke to wasn't sure if that was just a few crossings or longer sections. In the interest of happy relations with my partner I think I'll steer clear for a while...

Thanks for the update, I have been meaning to inquire about this myself. Let's hope that they really do open it up in April!
